JOHNSTOWN, Colo. – If you thought the chaos of Washington couldn’t get worse after an 11th hour miracle to avoid a government shutdown, eight Republicans joined every single House Democrat, including Yadira Caraveo, to oust Kevin McCarthy as Speaker of the House.
In response to this latest development in Washington, Scott James, candidate for Colorado’s 8th Congressional District released the following statement:
“Yadira Caraeo just joined Matt Gaetz, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and AOC in the ultimate display of recklessness. With approximately 40 days until another government shutdown, Caraveo and her allies voted to halt progress in favor of chaos and turmoil to score cheap political points. I supported Kevin McCarthy amid the petty politics and grandstanding and hope we can find resolution quickly so we can secure our border, cut wasteful spending, and keep our government open for the people of Colorado’s 8th Congressional District.”
